I was tagged by Vicki from TippyTupps to do the bedtime tag. I originally thought it was going to be about kids bedtime, as most of the tags I seem to come across seem to relate to children in some way. When I read the questions I was pleasantly surprised to find I would be writing about myself for once. As if I wasn’t already self centred enough 😉
In a way I wish I had filled this out before Piglet came on the scene, as it would be pretty funny to compare that with the way things are now! But I didn’t. Sigh.
Describe your usual bedtime routine.
Bedtime seems to come around 10pm for us usually. Either me or JHogg goes and lets the dog out and puts him into the utility room for the night with a biscuit. We head upstairs and do the whole jammies/make-up removal/brush teeth thing that you do.
Our room backs on to Piglet’s so we try to keep the noise down upstairs. More often than not Piglet wakes though and we can hear him on the monitor. We tiptoe and around and hope it’s just a little squirm and that he will resettle himself.
Once in bed I usually end up pulling my phone out and doing all things social media! This is an awful habit, and I would really like to get back into reading a chapter of my book before bed.
What are your favourite pyjamas?
I don’t really have a favourite pair. Most of my pjs I got when I was pregnant, as I had to go through a big cull and chuck out a load of threadbare ones. So they’re all a bit big, but that just makes them more comfortable!
What is your current bedtime reading?
I haven’t read in quite a long time, around 6 months probably. The last thing I consciously picked up to read was Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets so I assume if I were to switch on my kindle now I’d find myself somewhere in the middle of that!
What would I find on your bedside table?
I have the baby monitor. Despite Piglet being only on the other side of a wall I am a very deep sleeper. I have tried not using it but it makes me nervous so I keep it there so I can hear him if he needs me.
I have my bedside lamp, a water bottle, my kindle and usually some sweetie wrappers. This is due to low blood sugars overnight because of my type 1 diabetes. In my bedside drawer is a supply to sweets in case of emergencies, but I’m lazy and once I’ve eaten a packet it probably takes me a week to actually throw it away!
Once I’ve gotten in to bed you will find my glasses, blood glucose testing kit and phone on there too – all within easy reach!
What scent makes you sleepy?
Aromatherapy type scents. I have a night cream that smells like a relaxation room in a spa and it gets me right in the mood for sleep.
What is your usual bedtime and wakeup time?
As I said above, we tend to go up to bed around 10pm. Piglet wakes any time between 7am – 8am and so thats when I get up too.
What are your top three bedtime products?
Errr I don’t have a lot of bedtime products. Really just my Clarins Cleanser as I can throw it at my face and call it a job well done.
What is your most common sleeping position
I’m a side sleeper 90% of the time. I swap from side to side throughout the night usually.
Do you have anything you like to take to bed with you?
I’m not even sure what this question is implying?!?! I don’t take anything with me…… just my phone and blood testing kit I guess?
What is your worst bedtime habit?
Definitely having my phone in bed with me. I keep thinking about trying to implement a “no phones upstairs” rule….. but I know I will be the one who doesn’t stick to it!
