Behind the Blogging Scenes

Behind the Blogging Scenes - A tag all about blogging, how, where, when and what all blogging and photography takes place!

I was tagged by The Pram Shed to do the Behind the Blogging Scenes tag. I love these as its always fun to be nosey at how everyone does things.

Where Do You Blog?

My blogging habits are pretty bad at the moment. I tend to write while sitting on the sofa with the TV on or Piglet wriggling around at me feet…… or both. I really wish I had somewhere better to do it – I’m sure I’d be far more productive if I had less distractions!

We currently don’t even have a dining table set up, we hope to make some progress in the renovations in the next few months and that will solve that problem. Eventually we will also be adding a desk to our spare room and I plan to make that area my blogging space.

Where Do You Find Inspiration For Your Blog Posts?

My inspiration is really just our day to day life. Thing that occur to me as we are going about our day, or things that have happened to us in the past. I try to write some posts that will help other people too.

How Long Does It Take You To Write A Post?

That really depends on the content. I can often get a decent draft completed in 30 minutes or so, but taking and editing photos will really affect the total time scale. The sort of posts that take longer to do are usually more planned out and the work is spread over a few days.

My review posts often take longer than others to do. I need to do my research to make sure the information I am providing is correct, as well as using the product myself and working out what people would be interested in. Toss in pictures and it takes more than a couple of hours overall.

Do You Plan Your Blog Posts? How?

I have a vague plan, using a calendar on WordPress. I like it because I can schedule my posts from there, drag them around and change the plan as much as I like. I post 4 times a week, at 6am on the same days. The content varies, and if something relevant comes up I have no issues in moving posts aside for a later date.

What Kind Of Camera Do You Use? What Editing Programme?

My camera is Samsung and white…… and not my camera at all. Seriously though, its a NX1000 and “technically” belongs to JHogg. In all honesty I have no idea how to use it, but it doesn’t stop me trying. Photography skills elude me but I’m giving it a go!

I also use my iPhone camera pretty often. I really notice the difference in quality though!

I use either Pic Monkey or the Mac Photo Editor for my editing. Again – I’m not great at it. If you see anything that looks particularly good you can safely assume it was a fluke! If anyone has any photography tips then please send them my way.

Do you use a notebook to track your ideas?

Not generally, no. I keep meaning to but it hasn’t happened yet! I do love stationary though 😉

How do you take your pictures?

Point and click?

Due to my general inability to get a decent shot I tend to take loads and then review them later in the hope I got one or two usable photos.

If I’m out and about I tend to just snap away on my phone. I have started trying to remember to take the camera with me when we go out but it rarely happens.

What’s your favourite type of blog post to write?

At the moment it is probably Piglet’s milestone posts. Of all the posts I write, those are the ones that are really just for me.

I also like the more light hearted “How to” type posts, like this one about swimming with toddlers. They’re fun and I think quite a few people can relate to them.

Who knows about your blog?

Anyone who wants to! I’ve never kept it a secret. If I was embarrassed or ashamed by the content then I don’t think I should be posting it at all.

Are you an organised or messy blogger?

Funnily enough I think blogging is the most organised area of my life! As a stay at home mum, blogging is the more “professional” area of my life and I treat it like I would if I was actually at work.

Biggest blogging pet peeve?

Pop ups!!! I know why people have them, but when I’m reading a post and it pops up into the middle of my screen it certainly doesn’t encourage me to sign-up.

I’m not tagging anyone in particular – if you want to be tagged let me know and I’ll tag you on twitter 🙂

I really want to improve my photography skills too but at the minute I only have my phone so they’re never going to be particularly great, but then I think if I had a camera I would always forget to take it out with me. Phones are just so much more convenient in the moment. Love this post, it’s always great to get a little insight into how other bloggers do things x

Hehe I hate pop-ups too, and as I mostly read on my phone I find them really difficult to get rid of which puts me off. I find my iphone surprisingly good at taking photos though so actually take that out over my dslr most of the time (as the dslr is just too heavy). #KCACOLS

I regularly use my phone when out. I only take the dslr if I know I’m particularly wanting to blog about something later

Your photo’s are lovely, it was one of the first things I noticed when I just came to your page then. The header photo of baby feet is lush! I like the whole look of your blog too, it’s very crisp and fresh. I can’t stand pop-ups either! #KCACOLS

Thank you – I’m winging it with the camera and editing at the moment but I hope I can get better! I can’t resist some baby tootsies though

It’s great reading posts like this and gaining an insight into how other people find the time to blog around their family. I’m also starting to remember to take my camera when we’re out and about although sometimes I get a better shot on my phone!

Thank you for linking up to #KCACOLS and I hope to see you back again on Sunday x
