With a son that’s nickname is Piglet, it’s probably not escaped your notice that I’m a big Winnie the Pooh fan. I have loved it since I was a child, and still have a number of the toys I had when I was little and Piglet plays with them now.
With a new baby on the way it only seemed fair that he has his very own Winnie the Pooh toy ready for his arrival. He has so many hand me down items, so I want him to have 1 or 2 things that are just for him. I’ve still a little while to go before he arrives, but I wanted to get it out and see what we thought of it.
The first thing I like about the Rainbow Designs Disney Baby Winnie The Pooh Activity Toy is the fact that it is suitable from birth, but also has features that encourage early development in a baby and aspects of sensory play.
The sensory fun on Pooh is present from top to toe. His ears crinkle when you touch them, and the soles of his feet are made of a different material that is more smooth to touch than his body.
Pooh’s body jingles when you shake him. It’s not quite a rattle, more of a chiming sound which I think is less likely to startle a baby. His body is nice and soft, and the pocket of his t-shirt has a little bumblebee in it. The bee is attached, so it cannot be lost if it is taken out. The wings of the bee crinkle and if you squeeze it it squeaks. I wasn’t expecting that, and as such I wasn’t prepared for my dogs reaction to the squeaking noise!
In one hand Pooh has a single ring with a lady bird on it and 4 other rings attached. They are nice and bright colours to capture baby’s attention.
In his other hand Pooh holds two other rings. One is round and the other is star shaped. They bang together to make a different sort of noise for baby.
Pooh can be hung up using a hook attached to the top. It is has Mickey ears on it – just to add to the Disney magic! If you want to take it off you can simply remove it using the velcro strap. This is quite handy if Pooh needs a wash, which thankfully can be done in a washing machine, on a gentle cycle with cold water. He can even be tumble dried on low.
I can’t wait for our 2nd little man to arrive and start to interact with his Winnie the Pooh. I think he’s going to love shaking him around – and he’ll be the perfect companion for our trip to Disney Land later this year!
