In the last year I have had to finally admit I’m not a fresh faced teenager any more. I can’t just a quick scrub with a face wipe and call it clean. I’ve been trying to make sure I cleanse, tone and moisturise regularly to stop myself looking like the haggard old woman that I sometimes feel I am.
I’m not perfect though, and I’m usually looking for the quick and easy route to make my skin look and feel good. When I was given the chance to try out the SENSSE Silicone Facial Cleansing and Exfoliating Brush and the SENSSE Hot and Cool Ultrasonic Skin Tightening Facial Toner and Eye Massager I of course said yes – I was pretty intrigued as to whether I would get a little skin boost from them.
SENSSE Silicone Facial Cleansing & Exfoliating Brush
When I first looked at the brush I assumed it was simply a brush and nothing more. I hadn’t realised it vibrates to help with the exfoliation – making my job even easier! I have very dry skin and exfoliating is something I definitely do enough of. This brush means you can use your normal face wash and turn it into an exfoliator.
The brush is waterproof up to 1m, so I use it in the shower as that is where I would wash my face usually. I appreciate not having to change my routine and that it simply slots into my life. The brush vibrates for 3 minutes, pausing every 15 seconds to indicate that you should move on to the next section of your face. Once you’ve washed your face you can then dry it and use your usual moisturiser.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that the brush is meant to hold its charge for 180 uses. That means you can charge it up and take it away with you on holiday and not worry about the battery dying while you are away. It even comes with a cute sparkly bag for storage and travel.
SENSSE Hot & Cool Ultrasonic Facial Toner
I love the look of this. The combination of white and rose gold is gorgeous and it looks lovely on the side in the bathroom. The idea behind it is that using the hot setting opens up your pores, and the cold setting at the end closes them again. In theory this means your skin absorbs more product.
I usually wash my face in the shower in the morning, but obviously this wouldn’t fit in as part of that routine. I opted to utilise it in the evening when I am removing my eye make-up and moisturising before bed. The heat setting goes up to 42 degrees, and I used this first. I then use my usual toner and night cream, and then use the heat and vibrate to help the cream be absorbed. I finished with the cold setting, which is 6 degrees.
It only takes 6 seconds to swap from hot to cold, and the toner switches off itself after 2 minutes. I like this feature as I am always scared of leaving anything hot on accidentally.
Aside from skin care – I found the cold setting quite soothing on a headache. I suffer from headaches regularly and try to avoid painkillers as much as possible. The cool setting on my temples helped quite a bit!
I really like using the facial brush. It slot simply into my routine and I have found my skin to be softer and less flakey since using it. On the other hand, the hot and cold facial toner is not really for me. It’s use doesn’t fit naturally with my routine and I can’t say with confidence that it made a difference to my skin.
What is really great is that SENSSE products come with a 60 day guarantee, so if you are not satisfied they can be returned. Currently retailing for £59.99 I would struggle to justify the hot and cool facial toner, but at £39.99 the exfoliating brush is a good product for me!
I was sent the SENSSE Silicone Facial Cleansing and Exfoliating Brush and SENSSE Hot and Cool Ultrasonic Skin Tightening Facial Toner and Eye Massager for the purposes of carrying out a review. All words and opinions are my own.
