But with that said, what can you do to ensure that you’re going to have good eye health? Is it easy to maintain eye health? Whole for your muscles, you can exercise them, and for your hair, skin, and mouth, you can eat healthy foods; what can you do for your eyes? Well, keep reading on to learn more!
Start with a Healthy Diet
If you want to stay healthy in your 30s and beyond, then it’s all going to start with your diet! The foods you eat can have a direct impact on your eye health. A healthy diet rich in the nutrients lutein, zeaxanthin, and vitamin C is essential to promoting good vision. You probably remember your parents telling you to eat your carrots for better sight, and it turns out there’s some truth to that old wive’s tale after all.
Carrots are high in the red-orange pigment beta carotene, which the body converts to Vitamin A, which is important for ensuring healthy eyes. Leafy green vegetables, sweet potatoes, and egg yolks are also great sources of this nutrient. Overall, you’re far better off eating a healthy diet as there are more benefits to it, such as your eyes!
You Need Regular Eye Exams
As you know, every six months, you need to see a dentist, well once a year, you’re going to need an eye exam. Did you know that the eyes play a major role in our overall health? They provide doctors with a clear view of blood vessels, so it’s no surprise that people who get regular eye exams can prevent serious health problems like diabetes and high blood pressure.

When it comes to our eye health, we all know that habits like eating a healthy diet and wearing protective eyewear are crucial. However, most of folks don’t realize that getting regular comprehensive eye exams is also critical. Many eye conditions have no early signs or symptoms, so annual exams are the best way to catch them in their earliest stages. Plus, they’re going to give you help, advice, and solutions such as taking Viscotears or how to avoid eye strain. So don’t skip your next appointment!
Wear Sunglasses
There’s no doubt about it that UV rays can be harmful. They’re bad for your furniture, bad for your skin, make you age, and they’re pretty bad for your eyes too. Sure, everyone knows not to stare at the sun (something kids tend to do), but it does cause severe damage in the long term to your eyes. Sunglasses protect the eyes from UV rays that can damage the retina, lens, and cornea.
The best sunglasses are those that block 99 to 100% of both UV-A and UV-B radiation. Look for a pair with large lenses that wrap around the sides of your head. A lot of major brands produce sunglasses, and they’re pretty trendy too. But in the end, make sure to think about your eye health and wear them when you go out!
