Collaborative Post
It’s incredibly easy to feel as though your entire life revolves around your obligations as a parent. The truth is that you’re unlikely to be exaggerating here. From raising children to keeping a household together, from working a job to earn income for the family to managing your general home chores, keeping a family healthy and together is hard, hard work. Sure, it’s the most important job you could ever take part in, but we won’t pretend it isn’t taxing.
You may hope to change your perspective while in this routine through focusing on your self-care. If you look after yourself, you no doubt think, you’ll have more energy to enjoy, will feel less drained, and might even get some free time at the end of each day.
But what if you have limited free time to do that? What if you have zero free time for it? It’s hard to know where to go from there. In this post, we’ll use some techniques you can implement for appropriate support:
Integrate Simple Habits Into Your Schedule
A habit doesn’t have to be time-consuming to be effective. For example, putting together a set of supplements you take each day for your health, be that Vitamin D, fish oil omega 3 tablets, magnesium glycinate, and perhaps diabetes medication for weight loss if needed, can help you plan your day more easily while also enjoying a better sense of complete health. It also takes seconds to take those capsules each morning and can rejuvenate you over time.

Rest Quality Over Rest Quantity
Sure, it’s important to gain as close to eight hours of sleep as you can a night. But if you can’t find yourself resting or taking breaks during the day, at least make sure you practice sleep hygiene to get deep, restful sleep at night. This way you can help offload and nourish yourself each night without necessarily worrying about naps, which your body can adapt to over time. Heading to bed at the same time, investing in supportive mattresses and pillows, using the right tog duvet, and implementing a white noise machine are all helpful methods for staying asleep more easily.
Embrace Imperfection Where It Happens
One of the biggest self-denigrating issues parents have is feeling they need to be perfect to look after their child well. But this can only lead to spending too much time on the things that don’t matter, such as overthinking the school lunch or how perfectly arranged your house is, to what matters, like making sure your school lunch has one of each nourishing food group, and tidying up your house when you can. This not only gives you a break, but it allows you to stop overthinking and wasting energy in small ways out of fear you’re not doing it right. This helps free up mental space for the rest of your daily habits.
With this advice, you’re certain to focus on the self-care practice you more than deserve each day.
