Stress and anxiety is a common thing to deal with as more than 18 percent of adults are affected by it every year. If you have stress and anxiety, you may suffer from nervousness, agitation, tension, rapid heartbeat and chest pain. This ongoing body response can cause a ton of other issues, manifesting themselves physically. You may be considering treating it through medicines, but there are some natural remedies that could greatly improve your symptoms. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health.

Exercise

Running, jump roping, kickboxing or anything else that gives you exercise is a great way to burn off anxious energy as well as help calm down anxiety that is caused by stressful circumstances. Get outside and get a good work out in. Do yoga, or run a mile around the neighbourhood. Take a nice hike on a trail. Do whatever you enjoy and use it as an excuse to get some fresh air. Keeping your body healthy is a great stepping stone to having a healthy mind too.

Meditate

Meditating can help you with mindfulness. Mindfulness is key when it comes to thwarting feelings of anxiety and stress as it can help you slow down your constant thoughts. You can practice meditation through yoga or you can simply sit in your most comfortable chair and focus on your breathing. Meditating is a good idea for people who have disorders related to mood as well as anxiety.

Relaxation Exercise

Your body carries stress in ways you may not even be conscious about. This is why relaxation exercise is so important. Position yourself comfortably while laying down. Slowly constrict and relax each muscle group starting with your toes and work your way up to through your legs, torso, shoulders, neck, jaw and forehead. You will be surprised how much tension you may be putting in these areas.

Journaling

Writing down your feelings of anxiety and stress can be a great way to release those feelings from outside your mind and body. It is a great way to cope with anxiety and stress. Spend a few minutes a day journaling about your feelings or thoughts you have had throughout the day. You may feel a weight being lifted off your chest now that you have gotten those feelings out.
