Over the summer it’s easy to take your eye off the ball and let things slide. The best way to avoid the stress is to maintain the school routine throughout the holidays and to encourage your child to do work little and often. That way, you can both enjoy the holidays without worry and prevent learning loss – when kids are off school and their brains are dormant. Gardening
While it might not seem very educational, at least in the traditional sense, there’s a lot that can be learnt from gardening. Children can learn about nature that presents the opportunity to learn about science and geography. They can learn about the plant cycle which concerns how they grow and the water cycle which looks at the different journeys that water can take.
Cooking
Cooking is a good one because by the end you will have lots of yummy food with the help of your handy helpers. You will be able to teach them a few food tech lessons as well as a lesson or two in maths.
Educational Games
No one wants to be sat inside doing worksheets over the summer. Games on the other hand are things that children will happily choose to complete.

A Farm Visit

Sink or Swim
A fun science activity. All you will need are objects that you predict will either sink or swim and a bucket full of water. Once you’ve placed your predictions, you can get dropping.
