World Book Day 2023 is on the 2nd of March, and this year Yoto are are the proud official audio partners. We have loved using our Yotos for the last 5 months and it is really exciting to see that they are able to spread the word that audio books are just as important as physical books when it comes to developing a love for reading.

If you’ve never heard of Yoto then read my full review of the Yoto Mini to learn what it is and what it can do

What Is World Book Day?

World Book Day is a charity that operates in the UK and Ireland that is dedicated to changing lives through reading. Most parents first encounter with World Book Day is through the panic of coming up with a suitable costume for school, but the charity is so much more than that.

The focus of World Book Day is to help children learn that it is possible to read for pleasure, and to ensure that all children from every background has their own book.

How Do Audiobooks Play A Part?

Children of all ages can enjoy stories, regardless of their ability to read. Young babies through to adults can get pleasure from a story, whether it be from being read to or reading themselves. Most of us first experienced stories by being read to as children, by our parents or teachers.

Audiobooks take the pressure off of the learning to read aspect and allow children to enjoy the book in a stress free way. They teach children they joy that can come from stories and encourages a the use of imagination.

Audiobooks are proven to support children’s emotional intelligence and mental wellbeing, improve comprehension and widen children’s access to books.

What Is Yoto Doing To Support World Book Day?

As the official audio partners, Yoto are helping to spread the word on how audiobooks can support children’s literacy experiences. There are a few ways you get involved with World Book Day through Yoto.
